Spotlight: The Terror, by Dan Simmons

The Terror, by Dan Simmons

I really like to read about adventurers and explorers, and for some reason am drawn to the frozen wilderness. Here is a book by one of my favorite science fiction authors, written about the true story of the doomed 1845 Franklin Expedition into the arctic, but with a twist. I should mention that the names of the two ships that departed for the Northwest Passage were HMS Terror and HMS Erebus. Dan Simmons writes what interests him, and isn't an author to be confined to any specific genre, one of the reasons I admire him. I'm eager to read this one, but am waiting for it to come out in ebook, due to its heft. Rick Kleffel from the Agony Column offers his review, as well as an audio interview with Dan Simmons (scroll down after the jump).
