I've recently been reading Cancer Vixen, by Marisa Acocella Marchetto. It's not my cuppa, very big-city chick-lit, fashionista viewpoint. I had loved the far superior Cancer Made Me A Shallower Person: A Memoir In Comics, so I bought Cancer Vixen without too much previewing. I think I'll donate it to the local breast cancer resource center, along with a copy of the better book.
Edit: Updated impressions of Cancer Vixen
There was a startling statistic highlighted in this book, though:
Women without insurance have a 49% greater risk of dying from breast cancer. -- Source: The National Breast Cancer Foundation.
That stopped me in my tracks. I would expect similar statistics from other illnesses as well, since factors would probably include insufficient coverage of screening tests and delays in treatment. As a country, we have got to wake up and vote our consciences, keeping this kind of information in mind.

I love that test! I'll run it on Friday, along with another good one I found.
