A couple of years ago I experienced heaven-on-earth when I tasted a container of Fage (with honey) which I bought at Trader Joe's. This is an especially rich kind of greek yoghurt that has a unique thick texture and feels like dessert when honey is stirred into it. Back then, I savored it (and its calories) and said goodbye.
Yesterday at Trader Joe's I discovered a 2% version, a full 7 oz. of Fage for only 130 calories (add your own honey for 20 cal./tsp)! Because I'm undergoing chemotherapy, I'm on the lookout for nutritionally-dense foods with low calories (really, what woman isn't), and this offers a whopping 17g of protein and 15%DV of calcium.
The package says it's "pronounced: Fa-yeh!" I hate when that happens. So next time I have to say it out loud I'll say Fa-yeh!, then I'll get a blank look back and someone will say "you mean Fage?". But on the other hand, if I say Fage I just know I'll be corrected with Fa-yeh!, probably even with the exclamation point.
I'm not sleeping well on chemo, but I "indulged" in my Fage 2% before bed last night and slept like a baby.
