Note Regarding Post Below

My doctor is on vacation this week, so I haven't been able to ask him yet about the study regarding anthracyclines, discussed in my previous post, but from what I can glean from the internet, not all my chemo was in this group. Adriamycin (chemical name: doxorubicin) is one of the anthracyclines, but it was given to me in conjunction with Cytoxan. Today I see a radiological oncologist, substituting for my regular one, also on vacation. I'll ask him about this study.

Update: I spoke to the doctor this afternoon, and he said that of the three chemo meds I took, only the Adriamycin was in the class of drugs referred to in the study. I had originally misunderstood some ambiguously stated information I had read, and thought that all three of the chemo meds I took were of the same class.

An 8% effect is considered good. Except that in this case not all patients get the 8% odds: the ones with the right genetics theoretically get 100% odds, and the other 92% have zero odds of it working. Which is kind of how things work in the cancer world, especially in diagnosis. Odds don't really mean much, because if it's YOU then it's 100%.
