These are my happy feet. After my very first chemo session, my mom remembered hearing about these socks, recognizing my need to stay warm during the long hours while refrigerated chemo drugs were infused into my veins. Knowing my love of whimsical things, she searched for and found these hand-knitted intentionally mismatched socks, made in Vermont by the Socklady. I save them for my chemo sessions and they always bring me a smile, as well as to the nurses and other patients. Thank you, Mom! I see on the Socklady's website that once she has sold her existing inventory, she will not be selling these again.
Yay, I made it past a very nervous morning and through my first Taxol treatment today. I was given a double dose of Benadryl, anti-nausea med, steroid, and then Taxol. The Benadryl made me sleepy, but didn't knock me out, because it also set my dancin' feet a-tappin' à la Restless Legs (no stranger to me). With the brightly-colored mismatched socks, it was a sight to see.
I was a bit queasy coming home, but after lying down for an hour or so, I'm feeling much better now. I am crossing my fingers that this is going to be a much easier course of treatment. For. Eleven. More. Weeks. If I feel like this tomorrow, I might even be driving soon.
Also, Happy Birthday to childhood friend Dr. Lisa's first baby, a girl, born today! She and her husband Mark are thrilled, and mom and baby are healthy. I'm told her name will be Bodhi Claire.

Hey IW, glad to hear treatment is treating you a little better. Maybe you can make it back to DL soon. I miss you, although I am enjoying your web presence as well.
Thanks, Bart. It's nice to be missed. With Tues. treatments and Wed. DL, it'll be tricky, but I'd sure like to pop in for a visit sometime.
