Be Sure To See SICKO!

I saw an early showing of this film last week. The trailers make it look like it's all over-the-top fanaticism, but 95% of it is thought provoking, moving, insightful reporting.

Every American needs to pay attention to this film, because we are all affected by these issues.

If you're so moved, please visit One Care Now and support Senate Bill 840.

Let's only hope that this national disaster and disgrace gets turned around. Too bad gov't is no longer for the people.

I also think the US citizenry needs to turn their thinking around so that they'll be willing to contribute to the greater good, via taxes, voting for change, etc. We used to take care of our own, but now the ethic is every person for him/herself. Without a fundamental attitudinal shift, no change can happen.

Libraries are for the greater good, schools, sidewalks, roads. In SICKO they talk to everyday people in Canada, the UK, France, and Cuba who are all shocked that at what we have to pay for individually. It's a really interesting peek into their perspective that I think is critical to changing people's habitual way of thinking.

In one country (Canada or the UK, I can't remember) they said that it only took one man to change the minds of the entire country, to provide universal healthcare.

The film also discusses a factor that triggered this mess: Nixon championed HMOs for profit.
